Dr. Michele Brewer: A Dream Come True

Dr. Michele Brewer: A Dream Come True

Dr. Michele Brewer

Prior to enrolling in the Doctor of Education program at Indiana Wesleyan University, Michele Brewer had earned multiple degrees from other institutions. Although those experiences were positive, IWU stood out to her as the most enjoyable, welcoming, and supportive academic environment she’s encountered. In her words, “the university exemplifies Christ-centered leadership, fosters a nurturing and compassionate faculty, and upholds an exceptional level of professionalism that surpasses my previous experiences.”

Dr. Brewer’s time in the Doctor of Education program was filled with many cherished memories. She feels fortunate to have been part of her cohort, seeing them not only as remarkable educational leaders and colleagues but also as lifelong friends. Similarly, she found her professors outstanding in the ways they not only taught classes but also how they interacted with students beyond that—going above and beyond in their support of her and her peers. Dr. Brewer notes that even after the conclusion of courses, she still felt as though former professors remained approachable and helpful to her. She is deeply grateful for the guidance her professors provided and feels that the continued support of these professors post-graduation speaks volumes about their dedication and commitment.

Two faculty members who specifically stood out were Dr. Jodi Mills and Dr. Amie Anderson. Dr. Brewer found Dr. Mills to be a tremendous resource who offered ongoing guidance with statistics throughout the entire program. Dr. Anderson, meanwhile, was an incredible mentor and Chairperson throughout her journey at IWU, whose unwavering support and mentorship helped her grow as a doctoral student and inspired her to strive for excellence in all aspects of her life. Dr. Anderson’s compassion, faith-driven leadership, and professionalism encouraged her to set high personal and professional standards.

Dr. Brewer’s experience with IWU was so positive, that since completing her Doctor of Education program she has joined IWU as an adjunct faculty member and already taught several courses. “Becoming part of the IWU faculty team has been a tremendous blessing and a dream come true,” she says. “I’m honored to give back to the institution that has given me so much.”
