Indiana Wesleyan University to Host MLK Day Celebration Focused on Hope and Unity

MARION, IND. (Jan. 9, 2025) — In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) will host “With This Faith: An MLK Celebration” on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Barnes Student Center Commons on IWU’s Marion campus. The event will commemorate the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with an evening of worship, testimony, and a keynote address centered on hope, unity, and community building.

Keenan Davis, a motivational speaker known for his focus on fostering hope and connections across diverse communities, will deliver the keynote address. The program will also feature musical performances and personal testimonies, culminating in a call to action aimed at inspiring attendees to contribute to positive change within their communities.

“We aim to honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. MLK Jr. and others from the past who served to bring hope and unity to our communities while bringing our own IWU community, friends, and partners together to worship God, connect with others made in His image, and honor each person's earthly and eternal worth,” said Dr. Karen Dowling, Executive Vice President and Chief People & Culture Officer at IWU. “This celebration is a valued event displaying IWU's administration, faculty, staff, and student commitment to Kingdom diversity and deliberate and courageous engagement with one another.”

The event is open to the community, including students, staff, and the general public. Attendees from regional and remote locations are also invited to participate via livestream.
