IWU Recognizes Outstanding Professors with Faculty Awards

MARION, Ind. (March 31, 2025) – Earlier this month, President Jon Kulaga announced the faculty recognition award winners for the university. Bestowed annually, these awards highlight the excellence of the faculty God has provided to serve the Indiana Wesleyan University community.

Both awards are based on peer nominations from faculty, with additional input from administrators welcomed. This year, Dr. Warren Rogers received the Outstanding Scholarship Award, while Professor Henrik Söderström received the Outstanding Teaching/Mentoring Award.

“The Outstanding Scholarship Award recognizes outstanding work by a faculty member containing discovery, integration, application, and teaching, with both substance and variety,” said Dr. Daniel Kiteck, associate professor and chair of the CAS Faculty Development Committee. “Dr. Rogers certainly meets these criteria, while also modeling what it means to be a Christian scholar by producing broad and deep scholarship that enriches the IWU community, generates further research, enriches the learning of students, and benefits the broader academic and professional communities that we seek to serve in Christ’s name.”

“The Outstanding Teaching/Mentoring Award, meanwhile, recognizes a contribution in the academic development of students’ lives through mentoring and teaching,” Kiteck continued. “Professor Söderström facilitates student learning and growth in character, scholarship, and leadership. He regularly integrates the Christian faith into his teaching and serves as a positive and God-honoring role model for students.”

“Awards like these are always difficult to bestow due to the number of exceptional faculty IWU is blessed with,” said President Kulaga. “But both Dr. Rogers and Professor Söderström have earned these honors, showing unique dedication to scholarship, teaching, and the IWU community as a whole.”
