INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Defense and tech industry veteran Dr. Clark Cully has joined Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) as the new Technology Division Chair of the DeVoe School of Business, Technology, and Leadership to bolster a deeper understanding and use of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies in the workplace.

Dr. Cully served the Department of Defense (DoD) for nearly 14 years. In his role as Deputy Chief Data Officer, he provided leadership for the department’s AI policy and governance. At IWU, Cully will be directing and developing DeVoe’s growing number of technology offerings, including degrees and certificates in artificial intelligence, data analytics, and cybersecurity.

“Indiana Wesleyan is thrilled to have a person of Dr. Cully’s extensive experience to lead our reimagined technology division.  He brings the perfect blend of applied and theoretical knowledge to ensure our education is relevant to meet the demands of an emerging workforce,” said Dr. Eileen Hulme, Chancellor of IWU-National & Global.

In addition to technology-related programs, Dr. Cully will also be working to position Indiana Wesleyan as a higher-education leader in the integration of AI across the entire curriculum and addressing AI ethical concerns from a faith-based perspective.

“It’s an honor to join an institution of Indiana Wesleyan’s caliber that is re-inventing business education by integrating technology and leadership,” Cully said. “Innovation is ultimately about people. At DeVoe, we are equipping leaders to navigate AI transformation equipped with a Biblical perspective that carefully considers the impact to individuals, the company, and society.”

The DeVoe School of Business, Technology, and Leadership is a Christ-centered academic community committed to transforming the global marketplace through life-shaping preparation. From associate to doctorate degrees, the DeVoe School offers online and hybrid business programs in areas including business administration, organizational leadership, information technology management, AI, data analytics, cybersecurity, and others.

“We are fortunate to have Dr. Cully here at a critical time in the life of the DeVoe School,” said Dr. Andy Hughes, Dean of the DeVoe School. “He will be identifying ways to expand our knowledge base in these important topic areas and will seek to provide students with the tools necessary today to solve corporate problems, communicate effectively, and succeed in a rapidly evolving global marketplace.”

Cully’s announcement follows closely with Dr. Andy Hughes’ arrival as the new dean of the DeVoe School of Business, Technology, and Leadership. IWU is creating a new innovative approach to business education, including providing an integrated education across business, marketing, technology (AI, IT, data analytics), and organizational leadership (followership); development of new degree programs in business entrepreneurship; and key corporate partnerships that support the growing need for a thriving, innovative workforce.
