IWU to Hold Event Celebrating First-Time Faculty Authors
October 8, 2024 (Marion, IN) – On Thursday, October 10, IWU will be holding the event Debut Authors: Conversation & Celebration. This event will be hosted by author, IWU Professor, and Co-Director of the Lumen Research Institute Dr. Jerry Pattengale. The conversation will be moderated by Dean of Spiritual Formation and Campus Pastor Dr. Andrea Summers, and feature three prominent IWU faculty members who are currently in the midst of publishing their first books: Dr. Miranda Cruz, author of Faithful Politics: Ten Approaches to Christian Citizenship and Why It Matters (InterVarsity Press, August 20, 2024); Dr. Lanta Davis, author of Becoming by Beholding: The Power of the Imagination in Spiritual Formation (Baker Academic, July 30, 2024); and Dr. Erin Devers, author of The Unbiased Self: The Psychology of Overcoming Cognitive Bias(InterVarsity Press, March 11, 2025).
This conversation will take place on the IWU-Marion campus in the Baker Recital Hall, located on the south side of the Phillippe Performing Arts Center, and will begin at 7:00 PM. The conversation will then be followed by a reception. Speaking about this exciting event, Pattengale shared, “It is amazing to have three young colleagues publish their first books with major publishers.”
